PA Foundation Scholarships: Closes August 14, 2020

Over the years, the PA Foundation has awarded more than $2.3 million in scholarships to PA students, benefitting more than 1,400 future PAs. Scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds provided through contributions from AAPA members, other individuals, and corporate partners.

Eligibility Requirements

Scholarship applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a student member of AAPA
  • Attend an ARC-PA-accredited PA program
  • Have successfully completed at least one term of PA studies (semester or quarter) and be in good academic standing
  • Be enrolled in PA school at some point during the application cycle

Additional criteria/requirements apply to individual scholarship awards. We encourage you to apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible for.

2020 PA Student Scholarship Cycles I and II

NEW IN 2020: The Foundation will offer two application cycles in 2020. Applicants may only apply during one cycle, based on the month in which they will graduate from PA school (any year).

Cycle 1 – Opened January 13; closed March 13 – for applicants with graduation month January-June
Cycle 2 – Opens June 15; closes August 14 – for applicants with graduation month July-December*

The following scholarships will be offered in 2020:

Cycle II (NOW OPEN)

  • AAPA Past Presidents Scholarship – 2 @ $1,000 each
    Awarded to students who demonstrate service leadership through their PA program or through a community health organization/project.

  • NCCPA Endowed Scholarship – 2 @ $2,000 each
    Awarded to students who identify as an underrepresented minority and/or economically disadvantaged and/or educationally disadvantaged, based on the definitions provided here.

  • Ron Pace Memorial Scholarship – 1 @ $1,000
    Awarded to a Florida-based student who is a veteran or the child/dependent of a veteran. Named in memory of Ron Pace, a Florida Academy of Physician Assistants past president and AAPA Outstanding PA of the Year Award recipient, who served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.

Cycle I (NOW CLOSED)

  • PA Foundation Scholarship – 13 @ $1,000 each
    Open to applicants who meet the general eligibility criteria listed above.
    NOTE: Applicants must complete the PA Foundation Scholarship application first before moving on to any of the applications below. If you click on one of the links below before completing this application, you will be directed back to this application.
  • AAPA Past Presidents Scholarship – 2 @ $1,000 each
    Awarded to students who demonstrate service leadership through their PA program or through a community health organization/project.
  • AAPA Rural Health Caucus Scholarship – 2 @ $2,000 each
    Awarded to students from a rural area who are committed to serving a rural community.
    One of the AAPA Rural Health Caucus Scholarships is awarded in honor and memory of Joe Clark, NP.
  • NCCPA Endowed Scholarship – 2 @ $2,000 each
    Awarded to students who identify as an underrepresented minority and/or economically disadvantaged and/or educationally disadvantaged, based on the definitions provided here.
  • Ron Pace Memorial Scholarship – 1 @ $1,000
    Awarded to a Florida-based student who is a veteran or the child/dependent of a veteran. Named in memory of Ron Pace, a Florida Academy of Physician Assistants past president and AAPA Outstanding PA of the Year Award recipient, who served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.
  • Timi Agar Barwick Scholarship for Humanism in Medicine – 1 @ $1,000
    Awarded to students who identify as an underrepresented minority and/or economically disadvantaged and/or educationally disadvantaged, based on the definitions provided here.
  • William H. Marquardt Community Health Access Scholarship – 1 @ $2,500
    Aims to benefit PA students who are dedicated to promoting accessible primary and preventive healthcare amongst underserved populations.

*We recognize that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some PA programs have pushed back their graduation dates. If you were originally scheduled to graduate in July-December 2020 and your graduation date has been postponed to early 2021, you may still apply during the second cycle of 2020.
