 COURTESY OF MOVEMENT IS LIFE

The COVID-19 pandemic has starkly illustrated that a syndemic, or cluster of related epidemics, already existed in our African American, Hispanic/Latino, and rural communities, and that these communities also have the least access to healthcare resources at the greatest time of need. This pandemic fatally amplifies pre-existing comorbid conditions such as diabetes, asthma and cardiovascular disease, and highlights the need to address underlying causes such as obesity, arthritis, and disability. We also need to focus on healthcare resourcing, because communities who are the furthest away from hospitals, or are dependent on safety net hospitals, closest to concentrations of pollution, and with density of population, all are being disparately devastated by this virus. We are facing grave losses of life affecting all, but with concentrations in our disadvantaged communities.

Please join us fostering this national conversation by sharing The Health Disparities Podcast. Together, we can help change the trajectory of healthcare in America.
